Ecosa institute susantainable Architecture School in Prtescott Arizona.

"I learned what people need vs. what they want. Also that 'sustainability' is not only about nature but also about human connections and relationships. Architecture is only a piece of the puzzle that can start the healing process that this world is in dire need of. Ecosa is the catalyst that gives you the power to put all of the pieces together."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Ecosa Masters Program accredited?
A regional or national accreditation board does not accredit the Ecosa Institute. While some might see this as a weakness, we see it as one of our greatest strengths. The goal of accreditation is to ensure that education provided by institutions of higher learning meets acceptable levels of quality. Unfortunately, in order to meet standards set by accreditation boards, colleges and universities have been required to compartmentalize and quantify to the extent that they have evolved highly bureaucratic systems of governance. The result is huge administrative staffs, increased overhead and tuition costs, and unwieldy organizational structures. In contrast, the holistic and highly adaptive structure of the Ecosa Institute enables us to maintain lower tuitions and focus our energy on working at the forefront of sustainable design education. In order to ensure the quality of education at the Ecosa Institute, we solicit student feedback and meet as a core faculty and staff to review and respond to student input on a regular basis. We also offer organizational transparency and welcome all inquiries as we continue to explore options for accreditation that allow us to maintain the integrity of our educational philosophy. Why is it called Regenerative Ecological Design?
Ecosa uses the terms “regenerative” and “ecological” because “sustainable” falls short of describing the impact we intend to create. Sustaining current systems is simply not enough. Regenerative Ecological Design (RE-Design) is design that heals and creates new life using the logic of nature.

How is the Ecosa Masters Program different?

The Ecosa Masters Program is an extraordinary example of a new paradigm for education. The program is designed as knowledge ecology, a complex adaptive system where all individuals are treated equally, information and ideas are abundant and flow freely, and creativity and collaboration are the ultimate measures of success. The goal of the Ecosa RE-Design Masters is to provide graduates with the freedom and the guidance, the knowledge and the practical experience, necessary to have real mastery in their field. Read a call for 21st-century learning.

Which design discipline(s) does Ecosa teach?

Quantum physics theorizes that everything is connected and at Ecosa we know this to be true. Accordingly, we teach whole systems design, which requires an integrative approach and an understanding that nothing exists in isolation. Students may choose to focus in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, graphic design, urban planning, product design, community design, organizational design, permaculture design, industrial design or another defendable design discipline, but are encouraged to maintain a holistic awareness and move freely between disciplines as needed.

How can I use my Masters in Regenerative Ecological Design?

A majority of 21st Century jobs have not yet been created. Graduates of the RE-Design Masters Program will have the skills and experience to adapt to and lead the RE-Design of our rapidly changing and unpredictable job market. Specific career paths will vary greatly from person to person depending on each individual’s background, pre-existing degree(s), and focus during their RE-Design Masters Program.
