Core Arts District - Front Facades (Phase 2)

Phase 2 includes changes to the front facades that require networking, funding, and approval from the current property owner (Don Karcee), as well as recognition and support from the City of Prescott. These changes seek to increase the commercial integrity of the structures by making the front facades more transparent to the consumer (by increasing glazing area). In addition, the Arts District is spruced up by street and sidewalk improvements and cohesive paint jobs for the buildings.
  • Repaint structures using the standardized color palette. The suggested color palette includes a wide spectrum of colors that will help the district maintain its eclectic quality while remaining aesthetically pleasing and visually unifying the structures.
  • Install metal roofing on all buildings. Individually designed rain chains are suggested to attractively manage rain runoff. Rain chains can direct water into pots that drain into landscaped basins.
  • Glass doors and large single-paned windows allow consumers to see into the shops before entering. The additional glazing helps indicate that these are businesses, and is also more welcoming to visitors.
  • Improve the condition of the sidewalk and provide street lighting. This will make McCormick Street safer for visitors and increase pedestrian use of the road, bringing attention to businesses. We feel that at this stage, it is in the best interests of the city to invest in improvement and publicity projects that will increase tourism in the McCormick area.
